about

"Don't Come Back" can be misconstrued as a song about a relationship, but it's really about addiction! I'm calling it out as the problem in my life and recognizing what it does. So if this song feels aggressive and angry, that's because it is.

lyrics

Long drawn out pain
Echoing in my memory
These words remind me
Of something I don't want to be
Silly and incomplete
It's all that I'll amount to be
But pain is what I know
It's had it's share of time in me

Don't come back
I remember how it use to be
Don’t come back
You’ll bring home all my old enemies
Don’t come back

Angry, biting words
It hurts me just to see them again
Months pass by
As the pages turn, it never ends
How did I survive?
I know it cost almost everything
But here I stand
Against all odds, against the pain

Don’t come back
I remember how it use to be
Don’t come back
You’ll bring home all my old enemies
Don’t come back

It’s been awhile … since I tore her down
I’d given up … even on myself
Long drawn out pain … how did I survive?
But here I stand … here I stand.

Don’t come back.
